This is a Singer Featherweight Model number 221. Her Serial Number is AJ586399. She was part of a 40,000 unit lot commissioned March 31st, 1950 and built in Elizabethport, New Jersey USA.

As part of her restoration, she was fully cleaned; most of her parts have been removed, polished, and treated for rust as necessary.

The motor was disassembled, cleaned and the brushes checked for wear. The commutator was polished carefully and all old grease and oil wicks have been replaced. Old wiring was removed and new wires spliced on.

Her light and switch was removed and rewired - removing the lead sheath in the body of the machine. A new LED light bulb has been added.

On the body of the machine the felt drip pan liner was replaced as were her bed cushion and the spool felt and pin spring.

Her foot pedal was rewired with a new plug and cushions.

The case has been cleaned up as much as possible with rusted elements cleaned and repainted. A new handle was added.

She has been oiled and re-greased. Finally, her tension was tested, and adjusted as needed using 30 wt cotton thread.

I hope you enjoy her for years to come!
