Meet February’s restoration project!
February’s featherweight is a 1939 221. She has a beautiful scroll face with a chrome stitch regulator and edging on the fly wheel.
To be fully transparent you should know that this girl is done and at Stitch already. She’s not up for sale just yet but you are welcome to go check her out and even give her a test sew!
The blog below documents her journey from scruffy and slow to her current smooth sewing self. A final update is coming soon that will include a few before and after comparison shots as well as a short video of her stitch sample.
I hope you enjoy watching her transformation.

Servicing the motor
Servicing the motor is one of my favorite tasks when restoring a sewing machine. There’s something about being able to take something from sluggish to peppy.
Rewiring the foot controller
1939 Featherweight foot controller cleaned, rewired, and tested.
Let’s clean a case!

1939 Scrollface Intake
Meet my current restoration project! She’s a Singer Featherweight 221, serial number AF248100. She was built in Elizabethport, New Jersey and was part of a 20,000 unit batch commissioned July 11, 1939.
